About Us

The Emerald City Journal is a Seattle Washington based newspaper that provides headline news and immediate feedback related to local activities or events. We provide everyone an independent voice where they can share anything with the public. Our newspaper was created for the People and by the People. With the publics help, we can make a real change in the city of Seattle and its surrounding areas. Knowledge is power so lets publish it and start talking about making changes. Transparency regarding news, politics, budgets, projects, and our leadership is desperately needed in Seattle.

Many will find our topics to be unconventional, however, it is purposely delivered to make you think, analyze, and respond differently.  We are not your normal news channel you watch on TV. Some topics covered are very emotional, opinionated, arguable, and controversial. A lot of our articles are submitted by website visitors. It’s not uncommon to see different opinions about the same topic. Our goal is to give every person an outlet to share their thoughts and opinions about issues or topics they are interested in. It maybe a large issue that impacts their future or a bad review where they just want to vent. Almost all submissions provided to the Emerald City Journal Newspaper are independent and published on our site for everyone to read and respond to. We are an independent newspaper for the people and by the people. It’s common to see two different views about a particular topics and that is ok with us.

Our history started in Seattle with the goal of giving our Seattle residents a place to vent and share their own stories. There are lots of Seattle newspapers in the area, however, none of them provide an outlet for their readers. They don’t share or really care about your opinion on local topics. They also have their own agendas. News and media in general are also very committed to their beliefs such are supporting an issue or a topic. They don’t share both sides of the story. Another disadvantage with popular newspapers/media is they are suspiciously controlling about what they talk about as it relates to our government. If you read enough of their “news” you’ll find that they often don’t talk about an issue (that other news agency’s cover) or happen to leave out the important details of the story. I’ve also noticed many news story’s have an agenda to persuade the public. Yet, when you read the comments, it’s obvious that the public has a different view entirely and all the comments reflect that.

I found that that as I (Jeff Jacobs) got deeper into the news media space, I found and realize it’s very one sided. A good example comparing Fox News and CNN. Everyone knows they both take a stand (either left or right) and their news coverage is presented that way. Our news today on TV and print is completely jaded and unfortunately this is the World we live in. The truth (in my opinion) is that our society needs complete transparency. I personally feel many of the issues we face today would be solved quite quickly with full financial transparency. I believe in Americans and our system, however, information is not presented honestly and by having all the facts available in a transparent way – we can decide openly if changes or more financial support (like taxes) is necessary.

Our Goals and Mission Statement
Our goal with the Emerald City Journal is to give everyone a voice. A platform to share their news, opinions, and debates on topics. We don’t take sides and we publish just about every submission we receive through our website. Ideally, we want everything on the table and transparent as much as possible. A fair debate and conversation about topics without the bias in our news media right now. You don’t have to be a great writer or journalist to participate in sharing your views with us – in fact it’s probably best your not because we want everyone to have a voice. The Emerald City Journal newspaper was created with the idea of providing everyone the opportunity to leave their feedback. Giving the public a chance to heard and voice when voting doesn’t change anything. We provide that opportunity to everyone.

We support all views and opinions. Our goal is to provide a outlet for everyone good or bad. If you disagree with a news article or opinion on our site then submit your own feedback. We would love to share your thoughts as well. We are a community and want your voice to be heard. Our team (Jeff & Lilly) are very open and can be reached easily. Feel free to contact us via our form, comments, or use our submission from to submit your news for publishing.
